Subodh Gupta in conversation with Tamannaah Bhatia on success, life and fitness
Indian superstar Tamannaah Bhatia, of the blockbuster film Baahubali, shared her thoughts on what it takes to become a successful actor and how one rises to fame, in conversation with Subodh Gupta, Editor, Journalism News Network UK, in London.
(Q1) If somebody wants to be the next Tamannaah Bhatia, what does she need to do?
Ans) The idea is not to be the next Tamannaah Bhatia, instead, whoever you are, just be yourself. We are all unique, different and awesome just the way we are. It’s all about being yourself.
(Q2) On Twitter and Facebook, you seem to have hundreds of thousands of fans would you like to comment on that?
Ans) It’s really nice. Sometimes you are overwhelmed and can’t believe what you have done right to earn this kind of adulation and support from people. It humbles you further. It’s also a huge mystery why does one person get all this attention?
(Q3) What is the secret of being a successful actress like Tamannaah Bhatia?
Ans) Most of the time, people who enter the film industry come with the idea of name, fame and luxury but I don’t think that should be the main reason to be here. If you are passionate about films, then that is the only reason you should be here. The name, the fame, the success comes as a by-product. For me, I always wanted to act, and that was the sole intention I had. Everything else follows.
(Q4) If you were not an actor, what would you have been?
Ans) I can’t imagine myself as anything else (laughing). But I have a lot of people in my family in the medical profession, so I think I would have pursued a career in medicine. The thing is, I love to study which is rather strange, as most actors say they were bad at studies and didn’t want to study. I used to enjoy it, so I would have done something in the medical field.
(Q5) Would you like to tell us about your latest film project that you are shooting in London?
Ans) It’s a very interesting project, because Kunal Kohli is a Hindi film director and this is a Telugu film. Everybody who has heard about it was quite amazed at how Kunal is directing it but that is the beauty of this project. Sandeep and I have done mostly Telugu films, and we are coming together for this one. I think it is going to be something new for Telugu cinema itself, and I hope people enjoy this whole new combination.

(Q6) What is the secret of your incredible figure?
Ans) Tamannaah said, laughing, “Zipping the mouth is pretty much it and that is most of the job. Visiting the gym once in a while never harmed anyone.” When asked further whether it was the gym or zipping the mouth that was the actual secret, she said, “Zipping the mouth is the main secret.”
