AI Workforce Summit at Google HQ London: From Software to AI Colleagues

LONDON, Sept. 17, 2026 – Over 200 founders, operators, and investors gathered at Google’s London headquarters last night for the inaugural AI Workforce Summit, signaling a major transition in enterprise tech: businesses are moving past buying software tools and beginning to hire autonomous AI workers.

AI Summit at Google HQ LondonHosted by Google’s Emma Osman, the evening featured a panel with Jason Butcher (Orbit Capital), Lorcan O Cathain (Lua AI), and Danielle D’Lima (Moneybox). The discussion focused on how companies are integrating AI agents directly into their organisations, assigning them measurable KPIs, and giving them ownership over functions spanning sales, operations, and customer service.

A standout moment came during a sharp audience Q&A on whether up to 70 percent of current IT workforce roles could become redundant within two years. It is apparent that when one engineer, with the help of AI, can do coding work that would have previously taken 10 or more engineers, the displacement of the IT workforce is obvious.

In addition point to consider is that Trillions of dollars already invested in data centres and other related infrastructure …. staff wage which is a major cost component will eventually ended up compensating. Panelists also reached the conclusion that as raw intelligence and routine execution become commodity resources, distinctly human traits like judgment, trust, and relationship-building will define business value.

“The question isn’t just what AI can automate,” noted the organizers. “It’s working out what remains uniquely human about your business and using AI to make your people exceptionally better at it.”

Key Summit Insights:

  • The AI Employee: AI is moving from high-volume task automation (e.g., invoice transcription) to managing entire business functions like customer service and sales operations.

  • Human Distinctiveness: As AI intelligence becomes abundant, uniquely human traits- creativity, trust, and relationship-building-become the primary drivers of business value. Companies must determine what is fundamentally human about their operations and let AI handle the rest.

  • Relationship Intelligence: Successful networking requires relevance, timing, and trust. AI can pinpoint relevance and timing, freeing humans to establish trust.

Industry Showcases:

  • Syrena’s Ren: An AI worker for professional relationships. By automating networking logistics, Syrena’s systems claimed to have recently facilitated introductions resulting in £50 million raised in a single day.

  • Lua AI: An enterprise platform enabling humans and AI to work in a shared workspace. Lua currently supports 10,000+ deployed agents and has processed 50M+ messages.

Event sponsors included Lua AI, Gatherly, and Six Figures. All attendees received 2,000 Ren credits to deploy an AI worker against their primary business objective.
