06th May 2015. Indian Court convicted Bollywood star Salman Khan under charges of culpable homicide, thirteen years after he seems to run over pavement dwellers killing one person. Judge said, “You were driving the car. You were under the influence of alcohol.” Salman has been held guilty in all charges that were slapped against him.

The actor was charged with culpable homicide in Mumbai for the September 2002 incident.

Salman has always denied that he was at the wheel, however the judge said all the charges against him had been proved. Salman is one of Bollywood’s biggest stars and has starred in more than 70 Hindi-language films.

Some of his films, including Dabangg, Bodyguard, Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun, have been huge commercial hits in India.

Salman Khan’s lawyers seems to have pleaded with the court that he be given a sentence of maximum two years, in consideration of the ‘humanitarian work’ that the star had undertaken in the past few year.

Punishment in the case will be announced tomorrow. He can face up to ten years of rigorous imprisonment. However, Khan can appeal to higher courts against this judgment.
